Telegram arrived eight hours later Pilot Commander Jantzen and fourteen pilots from Warnemünde, together with lifeboats and other equipment on wagons. Attempts were made to establish a connection with the ship by means of rockets, but it failed, and to make an attempt with the lifeboat the pilots refused, notwithstanding the commander urging them to do so and the county authorities in Dobberan postponed a reward of 400 pr. Dalere. However, a crowd of people from the surrounding area had gathered, and the sun was already setting. Once again Commander Jantzen earnestly begged his people to help him, but only when three sailors, born in Dobberan, including two elderly, married fishermen from Rethwisch, made themselves available, four of the fourteen pilots agreed to make the trip with . The rescue was successful, only the pilot commander got his hand injured. One probably dares to ask, concludes the announcement, what guarantee pilots of this kind offer the seafarers.
